Authors Note: So…I came across a song sung by Colin O’Donoghue’s band, The Enemies. It’s called Perfect Strangers and this song has served me the inspiration for this one shot using the lyrics of the song. I find ironic that this song was sung wayyyy before Captain Swan happened but this song describes their relationship perfectly.
The song will be up on my blog (ourfictionstation.blogspot.com). Please take a listen as it’s an awesome song. As always, the characters of Once Upon a Time and the lyrics of Perfect Stranger do not belong to me but to their respective and wonderful creators. Comments and constructive criticisms are always welcomed! Don't forget to give your support follow/fav it if you like the story. Your support means the world. Enjoy =D

Are we Alone?
Forever finding our way home?
Or have we Lost the Skill to Navigate This Course?
Still we try, to keep ourselves alive,
For reasons why, others will get left behind.

‘Whatever happened in that city. It wasn’t real,’ Hook justified for what felt like the hundredth time to his beautiful but bloody hell stubborn Swan.

‘But whatever happened. Happened. And we were happy,’ responded Emma indignantly. Typical of Swan.

Hook heaved a sigh. Here they were, trekking their way up to the Wicked Witch’s house, courting danger once again. And all his Swan could think about was running as far away from here, from him as possible. No. Not my Swan. Never was anyway. How could he get her to trust him again? To trust in herself again? He wished Emma could see that home was where her family is. Not in that stone cold city where one was serve bologna as “food”. Hook shuddered internally at the thought.

‘What about your boy? What does he think of this?’ he tries again.

‘His mother knows what’s best for him,’ replied Emma curtly.

‘Or for you?’ challenged Hook. He had had it with Emma. After everything he has done, from saving the lad in Neverland and Peter Pan to crossing realms getting them back to their family. She turns her back on everything the first chance she gets. That woman infuriated him till no end. Sure, he made a mistake by not telling Emma about Zelena cursing his lips. But surely she’d know that there was nothing he wouldn’t do for Emma Swan. There was no solid reason to put her walls up now. Not after everything they have been through. How can she not see it? She need not feel so alone. She had her lad. She had her parents. She had him.

She will always have him.

“What is it? Why are you so scared of staying?” Hook pressed on. ‘I think it’s because you can see a future here. A happy one.’

Emma stopped on her tracks. How could he have known? It never ceased to amaze Emma of Killian’s ability to read her like an open book. Killian? Since when was he known as Killian now? Truth was she had almost begun to open up to him. To trust him. A pirate of all people. Not just any pirate. He was Captain Hook.

She knew everything he did for her and she was truly grateful for it. But she has already loved and lost enough in her life that she cannot bear to face it again. If it wasn’t evidence, Killian, no, Hook’s recent lies to her where enough proof that she was right not to trust him. That’s why I can’t take that chance that I’m wrong about you.

Emma turned to face Hook with the hardest look she could give and answered sardonically, ‘Let me guess…with you?’

Before Hook could answer her, Zelena appeared with the Dark One by a side. ‘Awww…you two are so adorable,’ she mocked with a sneer.

Who we are all comes down to what we know,
Who we become, surely time will tell us when to run,
Or walk in the light,
the warmth just feels so right,
The question burns,
never know which way to turn.
All we stand for, all we know,
where we come from, where we go.

Hook was drowning. Zelena had given Emma a choice – keep her powers or save the one man that she couldn’t wait to run away from. The next thing she knew was Gold flinging Hook into the air and dunked his upper body into the pool of water. But Hook couldn’t get up. He was desperately flailing, struggling to come back up for air but Gold’s magic kept him down.

Hook struggled underwater. He could feel water seeping into his lungs, eager to claim his life. He always had a love for all things water but this wasn’t how he envisioned of going. I can’t die just yet. Emma needs me! But his chest was already tightening and the more he struggled, the quicker he could feel the numbness spreading. Urging him to stop fighting. Once upon a time when he was Captain Hook, he wouldn’t have put his life on the line for anyone other than exacting his revenge. Now he was here, sacrificing everything for a woman that did not love him back.

He could feel someone trying to tug him out of the water but to no avail. Subconsciously, he knew Zelena’s move in forcing Emma to relinquish her magic to save him. No. I cannot let Emma give up her magic. Everyone else needs her. She doesn’t need me. Killian felt the pressure releasing as he began to let go.  You don’t know it but you already saved me. I love you Emma.

‘Hook!!!’ cried Emma as she desperately tried to heave him out of the water but the Dark One’s magic was too powerful, even for Emma. Then, both Zelena and Gold disappeared in a green cloud of smoke.

Emma pulled Killian to the ground. His eyes were closed with his soaking wet head slummed to the side. He wasn’t breathing. No no no no no no….it can’t be. ‘Hook! Hook! Killian! Wake up!!’ Tears wielding in Emma’s eyes as she shook him, hoping that he would wake up. Don’t leave me Killian. I can’t lose you too.

Might have known you'd be my savior,
when I'd fallen out of favor,
Might have known you'd be my savior
You saved this perfect stranger

Killian was so devoid of life. It scared the shit out of Emma. You cannot do this to me Killian! All the others, Graham and Neal were taken away from her as they died in her arms. But Killian had always been different. He was the one that was too stubborn for his own good. The one that never gave up on her. The one who never stopped thinking about her. The one who believed in her. The one who always came for her.

‘Killian, come back to me,’ breathe Emma. If she didn’t do something now, she would lose Killian forever. She considered her options and she made her choice. She breathe life into Killian’s cursed lips. Emma could feel her light magic fade away from her. Please come back to me Killian. I can’t lose you. She stroked his face willing him to come back to her again, as he had always done before.

Then, Killian sputtered out water and inhaled deep breaths of air as he regained consciousness. ‘Swan,’ he muttered touching his lips. His eyes grew wider as he realised what Emma had done. What she gave up for him. ‘What did you do? What did you do?’ he questioned Emma with dread of the answer.

The first thing he says after saving his ass is still concern over me and what I had lost. Emma could only stare at him and said nothing. Because if she had to do it all over again, she knew she would choose Killian over her magic. Everytime. Although Emma wasn’t willing to admit it, despite of what he had done in the past, Killian had always been her saviour.

Now it was time for her to be his.

OUAT Fanfic: Summoning Magic

Summary: Emma Swan was absolutely furious. They had both been complete idiots. And, it was easier to be angry at them - at him - than to think of anything else. [SPOILERS for 3.07 "Dark Hollow"].

‘How did you do that?’

She did it.

‘Regina.’

She actually did it.

‘She’s teaching you magic?’

Find your anger, and focus.

‘Yeah, I guess she is.’

Because Emma Swan had been angry, so angry.

She had found her anger, and it had worked.

End of story. Case closed. In the moment that Emma had successfully lit the flame, she had been terrified, desperate and angry; angry that two grown men – both of whom she had been attracted to no less – could act like immature childish brats fighting over a toy – it was a goddamn lighter, and she didn’t bloody care if it was somehow meant to be something else in their heads.

They had almost died.

What the hell was wrong with them?!

It could’ve cost them their mission; it could’ve cost them their lives.

It could’ve cost Emma her son.

She was absolutely furious with them.

That was all there was to it.

Because it was easier to feel that anger, to channel that fury – the fury of a mother who had come close to losing her son – at them; she was livid that they had messed around and it could’ve cost her everything she had fought for.

Because anger was an emotion she had a handle on; an emotion that had fueled her on for most of her life.

Unlike fear.

A complete and utter terror that had crippled her.

The fear of being left alone. She was a lost girl; she had not been what her parents wanted.

The fear of losing someone she loved. She might not get Henry back; what if she failed her son?

And, another emotion, even more petrifying than fear itself.

One minute he was there, a reassuring presence of safety and protection. A split second later, he had vanished; snatched away right before her very eyes.

It was easier to be angry; easier to believe that anger had been the fuel for her magic.

Stop thinking. Conjuring magic is not an intellectual endeavor. It’s emotion.

Emma had been fuming mad because Neal and Hook’s stupid bickering had jeopardized their quest.

The shadow had its claws all over him; tearing into him, holding him trapped to the tree – helpless – as it had tried to rip his own shadow from him.

Henry. She was livid because their antics could’ve cost her Henry.

You must ask yourself, ‘Why am I doing this? Who am I protecting?’

And, she told them as much when they had successfully captured Pan’s shadow. If she had to choose, she was choosing Henry; because rescuing Henry was the only thing she would allow herself to think about.

Feel it.

Because Emma didn’t want to really contemplate how she had managed to light that candle; she didn’t want to think of who it was that had fueled the desperate need to protect.

They were running out of time.

He was running out of time.

She would not lose him. She could not lose him. The words looped in her head like a mantra, growing stronger and stronger with every passing second.

What was the use of having magic if she couldn’t summon it when she needed it most? What was the use of being the Saviour if she couldn’t even save the one she-

The wick burst into flames.

Yes!

Triumphantly, she held the coconut out, watching as Pan’s shadow struggled helplessly against the pull of the flame.

She had done it. It was over.

They were safe.

Emma was vaguely aware of Neal questioning her, but she only had eyes for the man who was before her, dizzy with relief as she drank in the sight of him – uninjured, whole.

Alive.

He was safe.

Henry was the only love she had room for in her life.

And, suddenly, it had all come crashing down on her.

She had to believe that her magic was fueled by anger; anger at Neal and Hook. Because if it wasn’t anger, she would have to face the other emotions that were simmering just below.

Emotions she had not allowed herself to feel for years because of how much of her they exposed; because of the anguish they had caused her.

The fear of loss.

She would no longer be able to run; no longer be able to keep pulling away. Her defenses would crumble; she would once again be opening herself up, laying herself bare, making herself vulnerable.

A new love.

Because against all her expectations – he had come into her life when she least expected it; inappropriate, flirtatious innuendos and sincere, electric blue eyes – despite all the hurt, the pain she had been through – he had built her up where love had worn her down; given her hope where love had left her in a moment of her darkest despair – her walls had collapsed – he had reached beyond the cynical woman and into the heart of the little girl who still dreamt of true love and happily ever after.

He had wanted her when she had felt unwanted. He had reassured her when her own belief in herself had wavered.

With his actions, his words, his respect, his complete faith in her, he had shown what love was like to that little girl who had not known love; the little girl who had only wanted to be loved.

He had given up his quest of vengeance for her; he had returned to her and had expected nothing of her. He had saved her father, he was still fighting to save her son; he had always put her – her wants, her needs, her – first.

Against all odds, she had fallen in love all over again.

He had told her that he loved her. He had shown her just how much he loved her.

He had shown her how to love.

It was easier to be angry at them - at him - than to think of anything else.

Because the alternative meant that she had so much more to risk; so much more to lose.

Because Emma Swan had fallen in love with Hook; the infuriating and irrepressible yet, somehow, irresistible pirate captain.

Emma Swan had fallen in love with Killian Jones; the man of honour who had won her heart.

OUAT Fanfic: Swan, At Last

Summary: Possible thoughts and feelings running through Hook’s and Emma’s mind during the ending scene of 3x11 [spoilers for 3x11 Going Home]
Rated: Fiction T - English - Romance/Hurt/Comfort - Emma S., Killian Jones/Captain Hook - Words: 1,093 Status: Complete

Author's Note: The wonderful characters from OUAT do not belong to me but to the show’s creators. This is my first time writing a Fanfic so do let me know your thoughts on this. Hook was standing outside the front door of supposedly Emma’s new home.
Finally, I’m here. After one long year, after so much pain everyone went through, he found a way to reach the city they call New York. A city of eight million people and he had finally found her.
She’s beyond this door, but she won’t remember me. He willed himself to remember that fact.
It’s now or never. And that guard downstairs won’t stay unconscious for long. He started banging on the door. No one answered. He paused.
Did it work? What if no one was home? Is this even Emma’s home? He continued to bang on the door.
The door opened. It was Emma.
Hook breathe in. It was her. I found my way back to you. ‘Swan. At Last,’ he managed with a smile and attempted to step forward.
Emma had been annoyed at the door banging before she even got a bite out of her breakfast. She opened the door to find a stranger, a really handsome one, dressed in leather no less, standing in front of her. He breathe her last name. He looked...familiar. Like it was at the tip of her tongue and couldn’t quite place where she had seen him. Did she know him? No. I would have remembered meeting a guy like him.
‘Wait,’ she stopped him from coming in. ‘Do I know you?’ Emma eyed him suspiciously.
Swan. Distrustful as always. Just like I remembered. She doesn’t remember me but damn it’s good to see her again. Hook willed himself to stay strong. This was the important bit. He had to help her remember.
‘ Look, I need your help. Something’s happened, something terrible. Your family is in trouble,’ he finished staring straight into those hazel eyes.
Emma felt like those piercing blue eyes were staring straight into her soul. She felt insecure all of a sudden. She could have sworn she saw those pair of eyes before. And what did he mean by her family was in trouble? Henry? But Henry is here, eating breakfast with me...until this guy showed up that is. However, she was determined not to let this stranger unhinge her.
‘My family is right here. Who are you?’ she demanded to know.
This is not going as I had planned. All his previous will and strength was gone the moment he set eyes on Emma. Memories of her slowly crept their way back into his mind. There’s not a day that will go by I won’t think of you. Good. She had said. The last thing she had said to him with that look on her face. The look of regret. Regret that time will be stolen away from them. That given time, they could have been...more.
‘An old friend,’ Hook replied, deciding to go with the half-truth. Damn that curse! Why couldn’t she remember me? Her lips were partially opened, eyeing him. Screw this. I have to try. ‘I know you can’t remember me but...I can make you,’ he said earnestly and swooped in to kiss Emma.
That second when his lips touched hers felt like a million sparks exploded within him. It felt amazing to have her tender lips on his after so long. His hand cupped on his smooth curly blonde hair. Just like I remembered. Right before he got kicked in the nuts.
Emma’s eyes flared wide open when the mysterious stranger kissed her. It’s not like every morning you get a handsome stranger right at your doorstep trying to kiss you. But damn he is good. That was when Emma’s logical instincts kicked in – literally kicking him in the groin. Who the heck is this guy?
Hook let out of grunt, releasing her in the process. He staggered back, leaning against the wall clutching his hurt manhood.
‘The hell you doing??’ exclaimed Emma exasperatedly.
Ok. So True Love’s Kiss didn’t quite work out the way as I had hoped. He remembered Charming’s warning that True Love’s Kiss wouldn’t work if your true love didn’t remember who you were in the first place. If there was no love present, then the kiss wouldn’t be able exist in the first place. Still, Hook couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment that it didn’t work. There’s always Hope. He had to believe in that.
Still in pain, Hook replied ‘A long shot but I had to try. I was hoping you felt as I did.’
Emma was infuriated. How dare he? Coming here and telling me my family is in danger. Then, the next thing I know that he’s kissing me and hoping that I felt something for him? Emma’s head was filled with a million questions. More importantly, she felt fear. Fear that she could be wrong about this guy. But why? Perhaps it’s because all this time the only person I have ever trusted was Henry. Emma Swan never trusts anyone. And especially not a deliciously looking man dressed in leather and smelled like the sea. Did she just think of him as delicious??? Good God Emma! Get a grip on yourself!!
‘All you can feel is the handcuffs when I call the cops,’ she threatened him.
'Look, I know this seems crazy,’ Hook looked at her pleadingly. Please, Swan. Emma. You have to remember. ‘but you have to listen to me, you have to remem-’
Emma slammed the door on him.
You have to remember that I love you.
Emma didn’t want to have to do with anything that stranger said. It’s nothing. It’s just one of those crazy weird random mornings. Yet she licked her lips where the stranger had just kissed her moments ago.
‘Who was that?’ asked Henry
Emma took a deep breath and sighed. ‘No idea. Someone must have left the door open downstairs,’ she tried to shrug it off but looked back at the closed door. ‘Let’s eat.’
